The Rhinelander Area is filled with great places to canoe and kayak. Here’s a look at a few of our favorites in our neck of the Northwoods.
Boom Lake
Located in the heart of Rhinelander, Boom Lake is a flowage on the Wisconsin River. It’s ideally located for a paddling adventure. Public access is available at a boat launch in Hodag Park.
Pelican River
The quiet Pelican River winds its way through forests and wetlands. The river passes beneath a number of roadways, including Highway Q, Highway 8 and River Bend Road where you could launch. If you’re looking for peace and solitude, paddle the Pelican River. Take out at the Pelican Rapids Landing on Boyce Drive south of Kemp Street.
Wisconsin River
The iconic Wisconsin River flows directly through Rhinelander, providing ample opportunity for canoeing and kayaking. A good place to put in is at the launch at Bridge Road near McNaughton north of Rhinelander.
