Hodag Country Quick Fall Color Guide

A blaze of color will soon arrive in the Rhinelander area. Maples will turn brilliant hues of orange and red; oaks turn red, brown or russet; birch leaves turn bright yellow while poplars take on a golden yellow. Peak colors will be in Rhinelander soon, so don’t miss the show. See the status of fall colors here.

Here are some great places to enjoy the outdoors.

Almon Park

Located just five miles south of Rhinelander, this relatively level trail offers some nice fall views around Buck Lake.

Holmboe Nature Preserve

Although the trail is less than a mile, its a beautiful place for a fall stroll. Its located just off the Pelican River, near the Taylor Park Health Care and Rehabilitation center off Boyce Drive.

Washburn Lake County Trail

When the snow flies, this hilly 15-mile trail system is a popular ski destination. Until then, its a fantastic place for a fall hike. Its located seven miles west of Rhinelander and three miles north of Woodboro and Highway 8, just off Washburn Lake Road.

Enterprise County Trail

This scenic seven-mile trail offers great fall birding and wildlife viewing. Its located eight miles south of Highway 8 on County Highway G.
