Your Winter Guide to the Rhinelander Area
Does Rhinelander have snow? What kind of trails are there? Where should I stay? There are a lot of considerations that go into planning a winter getaway to Hodag Country. Here are a few things you should know before you go.
Does Rhinelander have snow?
One of the benefits of being in northern Wisconsin is that we get lots of snow – the Rhinelander averages 80-plus inches of the white stuff a year. “Yes,” you’re saying, “but do you have snow *right now*?” Good question—you can find current snow reports for our snowmobile and cross-country ski trails here.
What can I do?
If you want to take in some truly beautiful northern Wisconsin scenery, explore our cross-country skiing and snowshoe trails or hit the slopes at Camp 10 Ski Area. Or maybe track down the Hodag, that legendary Northwoods dweller who calls Rhinelander home. If you want to take in the scenery a little faster, Rhinelander is a great central hub for snowmobiling throughout Oneida County and the rest of the Northwoods.
Uh, do you have any *indoor* activities?
Warm-blooded folks, you’re in luck! There are plenty of places to stay cozy in the Rhinelander Area. Launch a shopping spree at our local retailers and specialty shops, sample your way through the delicious food and drinks (and Rhinelander’s very own beer) at a wide variety of restaurants, or visit unique and inviting attractions.
Where should I stay?
Depends what you’re looking for. Want a hotel with all the amenities? We’ve got those. Or maybe you’d prefer a rustic cabin or resort right on the snowmobile trail. Check and check. Visitors can choose from dozens of lodging properties, including cottages, resorts, condos and more.
