Try These Trails This Spring

As the snow starts to melt away in Hodag Country, it’s time to start looking forward to spring. And what better way to explore Rhinelander than by getting out on the trails?

Here are three trails you shouldn’t miss:

  • Enjoy an easy stroll through the woods along three lakes while traversing the Cassian County Two-Way Trail, which provides hikers with 15 miles of trails. Pets are allowed on the trail in the summer.

  • While short, the trail at the Holmboe Nature Preserve offers beautiful scenery and excellent birdwatching opportunities. You can find the trail off of Boyce Drive (Business Highway 17). The trail is also open for snowshoeing in winter.

  • Bicyclists looking for a fun ride should head west of Rhinelander to the Bearskin State Trail, a crushed-gravel pathway that runs for 18 miles from Minocqua to north of Tomahawk. Learn more about biking opportunities in the Rhinelander area here.
