The long, mild fall we’ve had makes winter seem a million miles away. But in reality, the first inch snowfall in our area happens, on average, in the first two weeks of November—so it’s coming soon! That means it’s time to start planning your winter getaway to Rhinelander.

Love snow? You’re going to love Rhinelander. On average, we get around 80″ a year! We like to think of ourselves as a winter sports paradise. We’ve got nine trails just minutes from downtown. The cross-country trails are meticulously groomed and can suit beginners and pros alike. There are plenty of trails for snowshoeing too—short, easy loops, or longer jaunts through our peaceful forests.

If snowmobiling is your thing, we’ve got more than 1,000 (yes, 1,000!) miles of trails throughout Hodag Country. You can even keep going into the U.P. of Michigan! Consistent snowfall keeps the trails fresh and the local snowmobile clubs are extremely dedicated to trail grooming. These are some of the finest routes in the state—you won’t ever run out of places to explore.
