Was the Hodag on Scooby-Doo?
Yep. The Hodag made a cameo on the famous cartoon series in a 2012 episode of Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated called “Hodag of Horror.” In the episode, the Hodag appears as a surprisingly vicious jewel thief, robbing the unsuspecting people of Crystal Cove (apparently the Hodag took a little trip to the hometown of Fred, Daphne, Velma, Shaggy and Scooby).
The Scooby-Doo version of the Hodag cuts a sinister appearance, complete with glowing, red eyes.
Gene Shepard also shows up in the episode as a showman in a red suit accompanying a traveling cabinet of curiosities.
The episode has been broadcast in several languages, including Spanish (with the great translation “El Hodag del Terror.”)
Scooby-Doo isn’t the Hodag’s only appearance on the small screen, however. The story of Gene Shepard and the Hodag also showed up on the Travel Channel series “Mysteries at the Museum.”
But maybe the most famous depiction of the Hodag in recent years was his introduction in the Harry Potter universe, courtesy of author J.K. Rowling.
