CAVOC Trails
4321 South Shore Drive, Rhinelander
Part of the School District of Rhinelander, the Cedric A. Vig Outdoor Classroom (CAVOC) is a 160-acre outdoor learning space that provides year-round recreation and educational opportunities for students. The five-mile trail system features hilly terrain and scenic forest, making it a favorite for hiking and in the warmer months. During winter, the trails are groomed for cross-country skiing and offer ungroomed snowshoeing routes, offering a rewarding experience for students, residents, and visitors alike. This trail system also features a paved, handicap accessible loop.
Advanced beginner to expert, hilly terrain, rarely any flat terrain. Not suitable for a first-time skier. High and low ropes course available.
Directions: From Hwy 17 in Rhinelander, go east on Hwy P and follow for less than 1 mile. Turn left onto South Faust Lake Rd. Turn an immediate right onto South Shore Dr. Follow for about 2 miles.
