Ride Rhinelander’s Atv & Utv Trails This Fall

Take a trip on some of the most scenic trails in the Northwoods this fall! Here’s a closer look at ATVing and UTVing options in the Rhinelander Area.

Enterprise Trail System

The closest trail system to Rhinelander is the Enterprise Trail System, which features 10 miles of trails in the Oneida County Forest as well as some shorter road routes. The Enterprise Trail connects with Lincoln County trails to the west and Langlade County trails to the south. Trail parking can be found on the east side of the trail system on Hildebrand Lake Road and Bowman Road east of Highway 17. On the west side of the trail system, a parking area is located at County Highway G and Zimmer Road. The Enterprise Trail System is about a 10-mile drive south of Rhinelander, depending on which parking area you use.

See a map of the trail system here.

ATVers looking for overnight camping can find it at the Enterprise Campground, which can be reached via the Enterprise Trail System or Shingle Mill Road east of Highway 17. The campground, which is open from May to December, has 11 sites. Learn more here.

Little Rice ATV Trail

If you’re up for a bit of a drive, head to the Little Rice ATV Trail in the southwestern part of Oneida County near the Willow Flowage. This trail system contains 16 miles of woodland trails and 23 miles of connecting road routes, with an additional 76 miles of town roads that are open to ATV/UTV use.

See a map of the trail system here.

There are three parking areas for the Little Rice trail—two on the east side (closer to Rhinelander) and one on the west side near Willow Lake. Head west on U.S. Highway 8 from Rhinelander for about 20 miles to County Highway Y. Then head north on County Highway Y—one parking area is located on County Highway Y near the Tomahawk River, and the other can be found slightly farther west on Willow Dam Road.

Oneida County ATV/UTV trails are open from May through late November/early December, depending on conditions. Contact the county’s Forestry and Outdoor Recreation Department for more information.
