Rhinelander – the Northwoods City of Lights

Get in the holiday spirit and visit light displays in the Rhinelander area! There are several locations where you can find colorful lights and activities that are fun for the whole family this holiday season.

Downtown Rhinelander

Check out the decorations and festive storefronts in our downtown area on Brown Street, now beautifully illuminated by Edison lights that add a warm, nostalgic glow to the holiday season. While you’re there, browse the wide variety of unique shops for holiday gifts or grab a bite to eat at a downtown establishment!

Lights of the Northwoods

Take a walk or drive through Hodag Park for the one-of-a-kind annual Lights of the Northwoods displays. Activities include visits with Santa, snacks and hot beverages, a warm fire and a special New Year’s Day fireworks display! Visit their website for more details and schedule of events. Admission is free, and donations are appreciated. Lights are on display nightly from December 1, 2025– January 1, 2026, 5-9pm.

Oneida County Courthouse

Take a drive past the Oneida County Courthouse to see the tiffany-inspired glass dome lit up at night. Or, visit during the daytime and see the colorful dome from inside the historic building. Be sure to go on the self-guided walking tour if you stop inside!

Pioneer Park Historical Complex

Another great driving option is Pioneer Park Historical Complex. Drive to the park to see the historic train and museum complex area lit up, which you can view from dusk to dawn after Thanksgiving through December.
Also stop by during the Historical Complex for the Railroad Museum Christmas Open House event, where you can check out the holiday railroad displays in the Depot Museum and enjoy other family fun activities!

Saturday, December 20, 2025 from 12-6pm
Sunday, December 21, 2025 from 10am-2pm

Rondele Ranch

Visit the Christmas Wonderland at Rondele Ranch in Harshaw, which features over 1 million lights! There are both walking tours and driving tours available from November 28 – December 30, 2025. Check their website for dates and times.
