Three ways to find Rhinelander’s famous Hodag—in person and online
The Hodag is Rhinelander’s most iconic resident, and even though he’s famously secretive, we’ve still got a few ways you can find this legendary beast. Follow him on TikTok and Instagram, join the Hodag Fan Club or head to Rhinelander to go on your own Hodag hunt!
Join the Hodag Fan Club
As far as we know, the Hodag is the only Northwoods legend who has his own fan club. (Take that, Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox!) Sign up for this free fan club—all ages are welcome—and you’ll receive:
- An official membership card you can use to impress friends, family members and co-workers
- An autographed photo of the Hodag himself (itself?)
- A seasonal newsletter mailed to you filled with games, jokes and other fun stuff
Also, visit the Hodag Fan Club website to find fun online and downloadable games, fan photos and much more!
Instagram & TikTok
While the Hodag’s been around since the 1890s (and maybe even longer—that’s just when he was *discovered*), that doesn’t mean he’s afraid of technology. Just check out his Instagram account or his TikTok to see the latest Hodag hijinks, scenic shots of Rhinelander, and much more (he’s even done some cooking demos on there!).
Find a Hodag for yourself
If you’re heading to Rhinelander, you’re heading right into the heart of Hodag Country, so why not look for some Hodags while you’re there? Sure, some of them are obvious—if you’re driving into the city on Highway 8, you can’t miss the larger-than-life Hodag in front of the Rhinelander Area Chamber of Commerce building—but you can find more than two dozen Hodag statues, murals and more throughout Rhinelander. Check out our Hodag Finder to see where they’re all located. Once you’ve checked them all off, head to the chamber to claim a great Hodag prize.
